If you have never heard of Amer Khwaja, take note of his name now. He will be the next top Nature photographer. His prints have already been published in several publications including the Los Angeles and the San Francisco Schmap travel guides.
Amer has always loved nature and the outdoors. He started taking pictures 15 years ago as a way to record the awe inspiring places he travelled to — over 35 national parks and many scenic places in the Western US. The pictures were never meant for anyone’s eyes but his own, and would have stayed that way, until he showed them to people at work while he fixed their computers. Their comments made him reevaluate them, and he began to consider his photographs artwork
rather than snapshots.
In 2007, he was laid off and shortly thereafter his father died. These events gave him time to both practice a lot of photography and evaluate his direction. He had always been searching for a purpose in life but never figure out what it was. It was during this time of depression and soul searching that he realized that photography might be what he had been searching for.
Though he continued looking for other jobs, photography had become his passion. In 2009, he decided to pursue photography as a career, and started back to college, intent upon getting his BS in photography.
His love for his subject matter, mostly nature and landscapes, is evident in every photograph that he takes. His unique talent draws the viewer right into the photograph.
